What we do
QRA is charged with managing and coordinating the Queensland Government’s program of infrastructure renewal and recovery within disaster‐affected communities, with a focus on working with our state and local government partners to deliver best practice administration of public reconstruction and resilience funds.
QRA is the state’s lead agency responsible for disaster recovery, resilience and mitigation policy. In this role, QRA works collaboratively with other agencies and key stakeholders to reduce risk and bolster disaster preparedness. QRA leads initiatives and activities to assist government, businesses and the wider community mitigate risks and prepare for disasters.

Disaster and Emergency Management Reform
The Queensland Government is delivering one of the most significant bodies of change to Queensland's disaster and emergency management system, ensuring we are best placed to continue delivering exceptional services to all Queenslanders. Work is underway ahead of the 2024 natural disaster season, with the goal to modernise service delivery arrangements, simplify operational structures and focus resources.
As part of the reforms, the Queensland Reconstruction Authority (QRA) will receive an increased investment in resources. Additional funding and 30 extra FTE positions will support further disaster preparedness programs and initiatives, improving resilience across our state.
